Is Severely Dry and Hard Skin a Normal Side Effect of Rhinoplasty?

Question: I am exactly two weeks removed from having rhinoplasty surgery. The skin on and around my nose is severely dry and hard. Is this normal? Why is it like this?

Answer: The hardness should not be a worry, especially if skin cartilage grafts were part of the operation. The skin will settle, and the hardness will diminish as your nose continues to heal. The dryness is probably the result of taping, which can be remedied with a skin care moisturizer. I hope this helps.
