Protrusion from a Nose Fracture: Bone or Callous?

Question: Around five days ago I fractured my nose, and although the pain is minimal and the swelling has subsided rather quickly, there is a slight bump on the right side of my nose. The bump makes my nose look slightly crooked, and I was wondering if this was a normal callous formation or if it is part of my bone? In either case, is it permanent or will the bump go away on its own without further care?

Answer: Since it has only been five days, it is too early to be a callous formation and probably a displaced bone or soft tissue swelling. Wait an entire week before having it assessed by a professional. If it does not subside on its own, consult with a plastic surgeon. You should be able to have a closed reduction after two weeks has passed from the injury date. Good luck going forward.
